Pat Carr was born in Grass Creek, Wyoming, but spent most of her life in Texas. She has received wide recognition for her writing, including a South and West Fiction Award, a Marc IV Library of Congress Award, a National Endowment for the Humanities, the Iowa Short Fiction Award, a Green Mountain Short Fiction Award, and the Texas Institute of Letters Short Story Award.
Pat Carr’s other books are The Grass Creek Chronicle, 1976; Bernard Shaw, 1976; The Women in the Mirror, 1977; Mimbres Mythology, 1979; Night of the Luminarias, 1986; and In Fine Spirits, 1986. She has a collection of short stories, American Stories, published by the University of Arkansas Press.
Pat and her family live in New Orleans, where she teaches at the University of New Orleans.
