Don't miss a spellbinding storyteller, Tim Tingle, this Sunday
January 20, 2009 --Cinco Puntos Press
Renowned Choctaw storyteller Tim Tingle will be telling stories at the Downtown Public Library in El Paso on Sunday afternoon, January 25 at 2pm. His visit is sponsored by the Friends of the Downtown Public Library and by Cinco Puntos Press.
In his storytelling, Tim Tingle reaches far back into tribal memory to offer deeply personal stories woven from the supernatural, mythical, historical and oral accounts of Choctaw people living today. Gifted with a dry sense of humor and an engaging way of opening doors into Choctaw culture, Tim, a member of the Choctaw nation of Oklahoma, has been gathering stories from tribal elders for years. Native American storyteller Joe Bruchac says, "For a good many years now, Tim Tingle has been one of my favorite American storytellers. His stories will stay with you and lend you strength."
This event is FREE and open to the public. Tim's books, Walking the Choctaw Road and Crossing Bok Chitto will be available for sale. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Tim's books will go to the Friends of the Downtown Public Library.
