Janet K. Miller
Janet K. Miller

Janet K. Miller grew up in Santa Cruz, California and received her degree in Biology from Lewis and Clark College. She lived and worked in West Africa during most of the 1980s and now makes her home in Tucson, Arizona. She does a lot of desert wilderness trekking and long distance walking. She has planted hundreds of trees in her neighborhood and loves to walk in the desert. She loves to go to the circus in Mexico. She frequently visits the Seri people and is a friend of Amalia Astorga.

She is a self taught artist. She started painting in 1993—it changed her life in ways that she would never have imagined. She does "reverse glass painting", which involves painting inside out and backwards on the wrong side of clear panes of glass. The original paintings for Efraín, A Lizard's Life Among the Seri Indians are all painted in this technique.
